For decades, Armenians living in the Northern Merrimack Valley region of Massachusetts have been proud parishioners of two stalwart churches, St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Apostolic Church of Haverhill and Holy Cross Armenian Apostolic Church of Lawrence. Families of the two parishes attended weekly worship services, as well as baptisms, marriages, funerals and countless dances and socials. The two churches have been the heart and soul of the local Armenian American community.

Over the past decade, the parishes have found it necessary to relocate in order to grow and prosper. The Holy Cross Church in Lawrence is located in a changing neighborhood. Once the heart of the city’s Armenian population, the vast majority of its parishioners have relocated to the suburbs. In Haverhill, the St. Gregory the Illuminator Church is located in an aging building (circa 1848) in need of continual repairs and renovations.

With the approval of the Diocese, a wonderful opportunity has arisen to combine the two parishes into one greater, stronger parish. These two vital communities are now one. This new site located on nine beautiful acres in Ward Hill, Massachusetts, is called Hye Pointe.

Hye Pointe is a multiphase plan, which unites the parishes and creates a spiritual and cultural center for the Armenian community in this region. The first phase includes a new Church, Cultural Hall, and Sunday School facility, which will serve parishioners throughout the Northern Merrimack Valley and Southern New Hampshire.

When complete, The Armenian Church at Hye Pointe will blossom even more as a community for our Christian faith, culture, and education.

The successful completion of this multi-million dollar project depends on the support of parishioners and friends of the Armenian Church at Hye Pointe. It is also believed that this edifice will be a unifying factor within our community. We also believe that the church structure will ensure the perpetuation of our Christian identity, as well as our ethnic heritage in the Northern Merrimack Valley.

Your financial support makes the Armenian Church at Hye Pointe a reality.
