Pastor’s Corner

Rev. Fr. Vart Gyozalyan was born on October 27, 1983, in the village of Voskehat in the Armavir region of Armenia. From 1991 to 2001, he attended the Voskehat Village Secondary School, and after graduation he was admitted into the Vaskenian Theological Seminary of Lake Sevan. After graduation from the Vaskenian Theological Seminary in 2005, he continued his education at the Gevorkian Theological Seminary of Holy Etchmiadzin, from which he graduated in 2007.

On October 6, 2006, he was ordained a deacon by Bishop Paren Avedikian.

From 2007 to 2010 he worked as an assistant to His Holiness, Karekin II. He was also assigned as the sole administrator for the Pontifical Residence.

With the blessing of His Holiness, he was ordained to the holy priesthood on July 19, 2009 by Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, Primate of the Eastern Diocese of Armenian Church of America. During his ordination he received the priestly name Vart.

From 2009 to 2010 Rev. Fr. Vart took English language courses at the American University of Armenia.

The Rev. Fr. Vart Gyozalyan was invited by Archbishop Khajag Barasamian, Primate of the Eastern Diocese, to serve in the United States. He arrived in the United States on October 7, 2010.

From 2010 October 7-2010 December 24 Fr. Vart participated in an internship program with Rev. Fr. Krikor A. Sabounjian, Pastor of the Holy Translators Armenian Church in Framingham, MA.

Fr. Vart continued studying English at the Framingham State University, and took courses in Pastoral English at Merrimack College in North Andover, MA. He completed the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA. Fr. Vart recently graduated from Holy Cross Hellenic College, Brookline, MA in 2019 with a ThM (Masters of Theology) degree.

Fr. Vart and his wife Yn. Lusine have been married since 2009. They are blessed with two daughters.
