Diocesan Activities Scholarship Opportunities:
Our Pastor and Parish Council are glad to present you the awarding of scholarships to help defray the cost of attending Diocesan programs; examples of these include are, but not limited to, St. Vartan Camp, ACYOA General Assembly, St. Nerses Programs (deacon training, high school conferences, Yeretzgin Diane Chevian Youth Choir Workshop and Sunday School teacher workshops).
Starting in 2025, the following criteria will be implemented for those who are applying for a scholarship:
1. The applicant’s active participation in parish organizations (for example, Sunday School student or teacher, ACYOA, attending church services, serving on the altar or in the choir).
2. The applicant volunteers for parish programs and events, such as working at picnics, food festivals, bazaars, serving at banquets, etc.
3. Parish Membership; at least one parent or grandparent of the applicant is a dues-paying member in good standing of this parish; good standing means parish dues have been paid at least six (6) months.
The Parish Council will be responsible for making applications available to prospective candidates and reviewing applications. The Parish Council will make the final determination on scholarship recipients and amounts. Every recipient will receive a portion of the total cost of the program depending upon the number of scholarship winners to a specific program. The Parish Council will continue to be the custodian of the scholarship funding sources. The scholarships will be distributed to the recipients the Sunday before they attend the program. A special blessing service for recipients will be conducted after Holy Badarak. The recipients are encouraged to write a summary of their experience in the program. For those applicants that have financial need may privately contact Der Vart at fathervard@yahoo.com.
